In 1948, we opened our hangers at Dallas Love Field under the name Associated Radio. It was a three-man operation, installing surplus radio equipment in former military aircraft being converted for use by private individuals and corporations.
As ownership of large transport aircraft by businesses increased, Associated added MRO capabilities and, in 1968, expanded operations to include exterior and interior modifications and refurbishments. The company’s name was changed to Associated Air Center (AAC).
In 1978, AAC completed its first VIP conversions on two Boeing aircraft for the President of Mexico. For a single client in 1983, we performed interior refurbishments and maintenance on 14 Boeing 727-200s. In 1998, we completed our first wide-body, a Boeing 747 SP. And over the last ten years, we’ve become recognized as experts working on Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) and Airbus Corporate Jet (ACJ) aircraft.
AAC’s original focus on avionics has never wavered: we pioneered the use of EFIS, forward-looking radar, EGPWS, TCAS and satellite communications in large transport aircraft, and continue to be one of the premier avionics modification and installation centers in the world.
Today, Associated Air Center is known the world over for providing large transport category aircraft with the highest quality maintenance and modifying them in ways that have never done before. Our clients range from major corporations and heads of state to professional sports teams and internationally known personalities. We’ve never expanded beyond our home at Dallas Love Field because we think our success is based on the skill, innovation and long, dedicated service of so many of the mechanics, designers, engineers and craftsmen who work here, and our clients seem to agree.
After all, since our goal is to make every aircraft we work on one of a kind, it seems fitting that AAC is one of a kind as well.
