Nelson Barrett was appointed Senior Vice President, Services, in August
2008. Barrett is responsible for leading the Helicopter, Energy Services, and
Component Repair business units of StandardAero. He reports directly to
the President and CEO of StandardAero and is a member of the company’s
Executive Leadership Team.
StandardAero, a Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) company with nearly
$1.4 billion in annual revenue, specializes in engine maintenance, repair
and overhaul, and nose-to-tail services that include airframe, interior
refurbishments and paint for business and general aviation, air transport,
and military aircraft. The company, part of the DAE Engineering division,
forms a global services network of 12 primary facilities in the U.S., Canada,
Europe, Singapore and Australia, with an additional 14 regionally located
service and support locations.
Barrett has been with StandardAero for eight years holding successive
positions in the fields of engineering, quality and business unit
management. Prior to joining the StandardAero team, he completed
a 20-year commission in the Canadian Armed Forces as an Aerospace
Engineering Officer. During his military career, Barrett filled billets in
aerospace design and modification, aircraft flight testing and evaluation,
aircraft maintenance operations, and capital procurement.
A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Barrett is a graduate of the University of
Manitoba’s Faculty of Engineering as well as Cranfield University’s College
of Aeronautics in Bedfordshire, England.
