Position Overview:

The Crew Chief is responsible for troubleshooting aircraft and/or engine discrepancies and implementing corrective action.  The Crew Chief has ultimate responsibility for the quality of maintenance work and turn time in this 24/7 operation.  This position is key in projecting a competent image to our customers.  Poor technical judgment at this level impacts customer business/relationship, and is costly in terms of cash flow/cost of sales and in terms of the reputation of the company

Job Duties

·        Supervises one or more technicians in the performance of engine and aircraft maintenance.  Appraises, recommends salary and other status changes, rewards, recognizes and disciplines members of the team.  Assures that technicians are held accountable for the quality of the maintenance work that they perform.

·         Provides technical support to TFE731, TPE 331 and CFE738 products and light airframe support to enhance customer satisfaction and improve market capture rate.

·         Organizes and arranges field trips to support customers with engine removals and installations, engine troubleshooting and on-wing maintenance by assigning work to team members based upon scheduled outdates and the technical expertise of the various employees.

·         Performs on-wing troubleshooting for the customer both on the phone and in person.

·         Disassembles and reassembles TFE731, CFE738 and TPE 331 engine types and models.    

·         Inspects engine parts upon removal in accordance with appropriate maintenance manuals and/or approved data, taking measurements to match reassembly.

·         Documents all engine and aircraft discrepancies, troubleshooting & repairing discrepancies and describing work accomplished in inspection paperwork.

·         Accomplishes service bulletins, repair letters and airworthiness directives, as required.

·         Procures and routes parts, as required, for the particular engine inspection.

·         Conducts “hands on” work and training on engine maintenance techniques and assembly/disassembly procedures for both internal and external customers.

·         Reviews work orders to ensure complete and correct information, including signoffs and material.

·         Has significant customer contact to include selling our services, upgrading services, dispute resolution, etc.

·         Troubleshoots and repairs aircraft systems.

·         Supports and adheres to safety, environmental and general housekeeping policies.  Is proactive in the area of safety; promotes safe work habits to the crew, monitors the work environment for safety hazards and takes steps to address/remove hazards.

·         Other duties as required.

Qualifications

·         Experience with “Spotlight” – Honeywell’s on-line troubleshooting tools.

·         Valid A&P license to be able to sign off work performed.

·         3-5 years turbofan/turboprop engine experience (including assembly and disassembly).

·         Experience with TFE 731, CFE 738 and TPE 331 engines – internal and line maintenance.

·         Experience with engine removal and installation of airframes installed with TFE 731.

·         Strong troubleshooting skills on both engine and airframe.

·         Computer literate – Microsoft Word and Excel, Intranet and Internet.

·         Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including customer interaction.

·         Must travel as required.

·         Strong organizational skills.

·         Supervisory experience preferred.
