Position Overview:
The Product Director, Engines (PD) is accountable for the contribution of turbofan engines and APU MRO activities (The Product) to the company earnings. As such, he / she is responsible for developing and implementing all aspects of a strategy, business plan and new/modified product introduction and management for the subject products.
Job Duties
Planning
· Develop a market-centric strategy for The Product that includes an analysis of market demand (supported by the Strategic Marketing Manager and others as needed), customer behavior, competitors, StandardAero’s capabilities and a strategic and market orientation for The Product. Such a plan shall present the evolution of The Product over a typical 5-year period.
· Develop a plan that is in line with the strategic orientation, to include a revenue plan (developed in collaboration with Sales), unit & non-recurring costs and capital expenditures plan (developed in collaboration with site VPGMs, Marketing and other functional leaders as needed), and planned earnings (developed in collaboration with Finance).
· Develop and implementation plan that includes specific projects and programs, their schedules and notional spend levels. Such projects and programs shall include activities and deliverables from across the company as well as business partners (suppliers, OEMs)
Leadership and Implementation
· Lead the implementation of The Product plan cross-functionally through the organization.
· Support all functions involved in the implementation to help secure their deliverables. Such support shall include pricing and concessions, sales support material (value proposition of StandardAero products and services), support to Marketing communication with product positioning, value propositions and technical data, support the sites with commercial terms and negotiation with OEMs.
· Report progress on the plan using the sector governance. Reporting shall be data based, and exception driven: A dashboard shall be used for each product and program, and off-plan performance shall be accompanied by a resolution plan. Reporting shall be cross-functional, to cover revenues, sales pipeline, cost, customer-visible quality, deliverables per schedule, as well as, where applicable, process efficiency.
· Define new sub-products and programs, and manage their launch through the gated process: This shall comprise collecting ideas for new products and programs, assessing their strategic fit, preparing the required business cases and program plans and securing their implementation and performance after launch.
On-going Support and Management
· Monitor performance and market movement and coordinate with production to address the changing parameters to ensure The Product continued competitiveness.
· Ensure on-going marketing support and market awareness.
· Initiate, coordinate and drive sales and marketing campaigns.
Process Improvements
· Define and drive process improvement initiatives within all functions to secure ever-improving financial performance of The Product.
· Define and drive continuous improvement from a market offering standpoint.
· Support operational product delivery improvement as necessary.
Qualifications
· Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a Business Undergraduate degree with technical work experience.
· Relevant experience in Engine MRO
· 5+ years program or product management experience in aviation or a technology field with demonstrated prior mastery of program management principles, such as cost, schedule and performance planning and project coordination.
· Deep understanding of the Business Aviation market for the relevant product or service
· 5+ years experience in marketing to include product pricing, channel management and value proposition development.
· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
· Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
