Position Overview:
Develops and maintains an understanding of company business processes, the information/data required and generated, and the computer application functionality required to make those business processes cost-effective and efficient.
Job Duties
- Provides direct primary system support for users of all corporate systems in all facilities and acts as a liaison between general users and technical programming resources.
- Assists in development of project Terms of Reference for large business applications development projects.
- Identifies, leads and coordinates a core team of subject matter experts to define and assemble conceptual system designs in accordance with the M.I.S. development methodology.
- Reviews conceptual system designs with all functional areas in all business units to ensure acceptance and consensus ensuring all user, customer and legal requirements are met.
- Working directly with Database Administrators, Programmer / Application Developers, and Business System Leads, transforms conceptual system designs into detailed specifications in accordance with current design standards.
- Evaluates requests for system changes for feasibility.
- Conducts detailed technical and functional testing of new systems and system enhancements to ensure programming has been done in accordance with detailed specifications.
- Assists in the configuration and control of system parameters and files to meet changing business requirements.
- Develops conversion and system implementation plans for local and remote sites.
- Develops user documentation and assists in the development of training material for new and existing applications.
- Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
- Carries out special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of a broad range of company processes and supporting Business Systems functionality is considered an asset.
- Good planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work without organizational authority across organizational boundaries to identify information needs and to design and implement applications that fulfill them.
- Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment.
- Post Secondary education in a related field of study.
- Experience in systems analysis or business applications development.
