Position Overview:
Responsible for the financial management of the Winnipeg- based Engineering Services team, including the Profit & Loss and Working Capital
Job Duties
- Works with Business Development team and, where appropriate, leads sales capture efforts needed to achieve dramatic growth of the business
- Actively participates in the Engineering Services management team, assisting with the development and realization of strategic plans, budgets, goals and outcomes. Directs and co-ordinates execution of approved business strategies.
- Establishes, maintains and develops business relationships with customers and potential customers to provide problem-based solutions, using program management principles.
- Directs strategic business unit engineering activities and resources including development of personnel. Develops and recommends business unit engineering policies and procedures consistent with company and strategic business unit objectives.
- Facilitates project teams by providing assistance in project planning, application of quality improvement tools, assistance in measures of performance selection, capital asset acquisition, tool development and assessing training needs.
- Exercises authority in hiring, training, career development, performance appraisal, salary adjustments, promotion, discipline, health, safety and the general employee relations of direct reports.
- Coordinates planning, organization, budgeting, program timing and specifications of all engineering projects and assures timely and high quality delivery.
- Directs and coordinates engineering activities designed to improve operational performance and improve service quality. Reviews project results and interprets technical trends throughout all areas of the business.
- Maintains and improves team enthusiasm, interest, and morale and provides the appropriate recognition to those contributing to the project.
- Keeps abreast of engineering trends and developments for application in the industry
- Carries out special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Strong Program/Project Management skills.
- University degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Ten years of related experience in (five in a leadership role).
- Strong planning, organizational, analytical, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of company processes, company instructions, rework option codes and rework process instruction manuals.
- Designation preferred.
