Position Overview:
Installs, configures, and administers publication software applications, such as Omnimark, used for the production of technical manuals. Administers all data conversion-related activities and current and legacy data-related activities associated with these applications.
Job Duties
- Responsible for maintaining system integrity and version control for all Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals.
- Creates and publishes SGML/XML/HTML documents for print and electronic delivery using various software applications
- Compiles and administers the Document Type Definitions (DTD) and Format Output Specification Instance (FOSI) programs.
- Installs, troubleshoots and maintains program files and parameters associated with SGML/XML activities including the creation of Bookplans, Fragments, Directories, and Naming, Hub and Catalogue files.
- Diagnoses software problems based on knowledge of system operation.
- Maintains, modifies, tests, and debugs written code to ensure functionality.
- Liases with other Technical Data Services team members to ensure deliverables are understood and met.
- Proof reads work for correct format, layout, conformance to contract specifications and to assure standards or grammar, punctuation and spelling are maintained.
- Carries out special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of SGML, XML and HTML.
- Thorough knowledge of desktop publishing hardware, software and systems.
- Experience with the development of Document Type Definitions (DTD) and Format Output Specification Instance (FOSI).
- Good organizational, analytical, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment.
- Regularly required to sit for prolonged periods.
